Carlton Goode, Ed.D.

Carlton Goode, Ed.D., serves as the Assistant Director for First and Second Year Experiences for Men of Color

Goode has been at the forefront of VCU's Men of Color Initiative. In his role of academic advisor, since 2008, he developed a well-earned reputation for providing mentorship and leadership to that population. In 2013, Dr. Goode initiated his Dynamic Principles of Professional Development: Men of Color first year success course, and has since become the lead instructor for multiple faculty now teaching the course. He continues to serve as the faculty advisor for DMC (Developing Men of Color), as well as on the university-wide task force for Men of Color.

Goode completed his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from VCU this May (2022). He also holds a Master of Arts in Student Development in Postsecondary Education from the University of Iowa, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Shaw University. Dr. Goode previously served as the director of student activities and Greek Life at Shaw University and the student development coordinator for the Iowa Alliance of Graduate Education for the Professoriate, prior to joining VCU in 2008.
